Tate Britain

London

The exhibition that people visited in Tate Britain is called ‘All Too Human, Freud and a century of painting life’.This eye-catching exhibition is located in a large exhibition hall in Tate Britain. As everyone know, there are a lot of famous artists’ works, such as, Lucian Freud,Francis Bacon and Jenny Saville. Their works are infectivity and have great painting characteristic and far-reaching significance. This is a vivid and substantial exhibition. The purpose is to explore ‘the development of the London School’ of painting after the World War ll and the appear of humanity in the painting. ‘All Too Human’ means painter endowed with individuality and soul in modern figurative painting, they draw in the drawing of each person under the skin for the joy of life in color and the characters’ hidden life, about feeling, about humanity. The exhibition time from 28th Feb to 27th Aug in 2018.

This is a neat, clean and bright exhibition hall. The exhibition reviews the works of artists who were active in London at last 20 Century. ‘Girl with a White Dog’ crated by Lucian Freud in 1951. In the beautiful painting, people can be seen as influenced by Holbein, Durer, Menzel, a lot of famous artists. In this painting, the girl was his first wife,Kitty, who was pregnant at that time and the painting feels very soft and sedate. Freud said, never need to be a prisoner, a prisoner of styled prisoner of honor’.He likes his painting, solitary and closed Even the queen of England is his fan.Freud was praised by the Tate Britain as ‘the greatest artist outside Picasso in 20 Century.

In Addition, the works that famous in people, ‘Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion’,crated by Francis Bacon in 1946. Bacon is one of the most controversial artist in post-war Britain, because his painting style is rough and sharp and the characters in painting are distorted and exaggerated. However, the audience interpreted from his works not only pain and rough, but also interesting soul and human infectivity.

The exhibition is not a shallow character exhibition. What it wants to show to the audience is the story and emotion behind the paintings, as well as people’s reflections on humanity. The artists’ work are dedicated to revealing the human image, the relationship between human and things, and the surrounding environment from a private opinion.Although Bacon and Freud are two individuals with different styles and personalities, they are closely related and interact with each other. Artists liked to communication that exchange their creations or to paint a portrait for each other in pub after the war in London. They communicated that times with their true feelings and the feelings behind the characters are interlinked, people can find a similar feeling from their works, so the topic ‘All Too Human’ seems to be difficult to understand but very clear actually.

In addition, the exhibition includes some special landscape paintings about London. Frank Auerbach, Leon Kossoff, a lot of famous artists’ works. They used color that laden and full are depicted scenery and true life of post war London. Putting together the works of artists who live in the background of London will easy for audiences get the key to understand the deep meaning of artists’ works. Let the audience fully understand and learn about the postwar London artists’ styles and opinions. Then, people can reflect on the understanding of life and humanity in that times, through the reflection people should still go on and love life. These are all I can feel strongly in the exhibition.
