Kawanabe Kyosai

Mangaマンガ

23 May-26 August 2019

British Museum

London

The exhibition can be said to be a very complete basis from the origin of Japanese comic to Tezuka Osamu lays the foundation of modern comics, and then to the development of comics today. The exhibition introduces the development of Japanese manga in detail from authors, magazines, creative processes, and creative skills.

It is worth mentioning that there are not only many manuscripts in the exhibition, but those who know the comics can also find that these are the classic scenes of each manga.

What shocked me the most in this exhibition was the huge curtain work of Kawanabe Kyosai. It is said that he is a high-spirited drinker and then works four hours without interruption.
